Report: Update On Future WWE 2K Video Games
More on the future of WWE 2K
May 12, 2022
Following the successful launch of WWE 2K22 in March, with the title being received positively both critically and commercially, an update on the WWE 2K franchise has emerged.
Sports Gamers Online noted the next title in the franchise will be WWE 2K23 - presumably arriving next year - but that doesn't mean WWE and 2K have put pen to paper on a long-term agreement. Instead, a short-term agreement is 'more likely to have been signed' and talks are ongoing between 2K and WWE about the long-term future of the series.
Bryan Williams, who spent over a decade working on WWE's THQ titles at YUKE'S, is heading to 2K following the end of his YUKE'S deal. Williams was influential on WWE's creation suite and more. There is no word on what his new role with 2K will be.
2K have published WWE video games since 2013, with the first title in the series being WWE 2K14. The series was an annual release until WWE 2K20 but that title's disastrous launch resulted in the series going on hiatus until this year.
