On Wednesday, WWE released 23 Superstars including Drake Maverick, Zack Ryder, Curt Hawkins, EC3, and Rusev. Nine producers in the company were also furloughed until at least July 1 while Kurt Angle was let go. The cutbacks came as a surprise to many as estimates show WWE is still set to make record profits of $121 million in 2020 even if they don't hold another live event this year.

After the events of Wednesday, many fans were worried more wrestlers would be released from the main roster, however, Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there will be no further releases from Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown.

Meltzer penned: "We were told as far as the main roster, that all of the cuts have been made."

This is not the case for NXT, however. The belief within WWE is that more Superstars on the black and gold brand will be let go in the coming days, which will likely target wrestlers who aren't heavily featured on TV.

Meltzer wrote: "For NXT, all the released names aren't known. And unlike the main roster, the belief is that there are more to come. We're told everyone who isn't featured heavily on NXT television is sweating on this. The NXT talent cut will only be on 30 day non-competes."
