Report: Several WWE NXT Stars "Passed On" Contract Extensions In 2019

Several WWE NXT Superstars "passed on" contract extensions in 2019, according to a new report.

The then-black and gold brand had traditionally aired on the WWE Network but WWE's third show moved to the USA Network in September 2019 shortly after AEW announced their weekly series, Dynamite, would be airing on Wednesday nights from October.

Following the move to USA, several NXT Superstars, including Johnny Gargano, were offered new deals as the company was in a "major re-signing mode across all brands" at the time.

"Dozens" of Superstars re-signed or restructured their deals but there wasn't a major incentive for top NXT talent to re-up with the company, according to Fightful Select, as the terms for a long-term contract were "nowhere near" what was being offered to Raw and SmackDown talents.

Adam Cole was one of the talents who passed on the new deals and wrestlers further down the card also turned down the contracts on offer.

Adam Cole has since departed WWE and he made his All Elite Wrestling debut at All Out earlier this month. Former NXT Champion Johnny Gargano's contract is reportedly due to expire in December.
