Issues between All Elite Wrestling and CM Punk have only worsened in recent weeks after Colt Cabana returned to TV and challenged Chris Jericho for the ROH World Championship on November 2, according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

CM Punk and Colt Cabana have had issues since their friendship collapsed over the civil lawsuit filed against them by now-former WWE doctor Chris Amann. Such is their disdain for one another that speculation suggested Punk was involved in AEW's initial decision not to renew Cabana's contract earlier this year and his subsequent banishment to Ring of Honor.

While both Punk and Tony Khan denied the two-time AEW World Champion was involved in that decision, Cabana ultimately reappeared on AEW TV at a time when Punk is reportedly in talks with the promotion over a contract buyout.

Dave Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Cabana's return only worsened issues between AEW and Punk and the two-time AEW World Champion "remains adamant he had nothing to do with Cabana being done." Many AEW talents don't believe that is the case, though, and Punk's alleged involvement is openly talked about within the locker room. Cabana's return only fuelled this viewpoint as it was Tony Khan's decision to bring 'Boom Boom' back to TV.

While relations between Punk and AEW are worse than ever, the 44-year-old remains under contract and AEW were selling his merchandise this week at Dynamite. Punk also remains out of action with a torn triceps he suffered in the main event of All Out and his recovery is said to be going "really well."
