Report: People In AEW Pushed To Sign Candice LeRae

Candice LeRae made her shocking yet somewhat expected return to WWE on the September 26 edition of WWE Raw, mere weeks after husband Johnny Gargano returned to the company.

Having left WWE in May after the expiration of her deal, many speculated that LeRae could join AEW due to her close working relationship with The Young Bucks in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla. 

Now a report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter suggests that there were some in AEW who pushed for the company to sign LeRae, but Gargano’s re-signing with WWE all but put an end to discussions.

LeRae had been out of action since August 2021 having announced she was pregnant with her first child, with her WWE deal expiring in May 2022. 

Prior to signing with WWE NXT in 2018, LeRae was a fixture on the independent scene, wrestling primarily for PWG and notably competing in many wild blood-spattered brawls alongside the likes of The Young Bucks and Adam Cole, as well as a run as PWG Tag Team Champions with Joey Ryan as The World’s Cutest Tag Team.
