Last year's WrestleMania card was made up of 16 matches in total, with the kickoff show and main card lasting over seven hours.

While New Japan Pro Wrestling have split Wrestle Kingdom over two nights, it looks like Vince McMahon and WWE will be continuing to cram as many matches into one night.

A report from

Dave Meltzer

on a recent edition of

Wrestling Observer Radio

indicates WWE wants to showcase 14 matches on the 'Mania 36 card - although Dave doesn't specify whether that is just the main card, or the kickoff and the main combined.

At the time of writing, just three matches have been confirmed for this year's Grandest Stage of Them All, with Drew McIntyre challenging Brock Lesnar -

should Lesner defeat Ricochet at Super ShowDown on Thursday

- for the WWE Championship; Rhea Ripley defending her NXT Women's Championship against Charlotte Flair, and Becky Lynch defending her Raw title against one of Shayna Baszler, Liv Morgan, Ruby Riott, Asuka, Sarah Logan and Natalya.

John Cena, making his return to SmackDown this coming Friday, is expected to be in action at WrestleMania - as is the likes of Roman Reigns, Bayley and Bray Wyatt.
