Bray Wyatt (Windham Rotunda) tragically passed away on Thursday, August 24, with the former WWE Champion's family revealing he suffered a heart attack. Wyatt had been off WWE TV since March after he contracted COVID-19 which exacerbated a heart issue.

TMZ has revealed further details about Wyatt's passing, noting that Wyatt had a "weak lower part of his heart" due to his COVID-19-related heart complications. He was hospitalised with a heart issue one week before his passing and Rotunda had a follow-up appointment with doctors the morning he died.

Wyatt was advised by doctors to continue wearing an external heart defibrillator but Wyatt was not wearing it at the time of his death, having left it inside his vehicle in the driveway. Wyatt passed away in his sleep, having told his girlfriend JoJo Offerman that he was going to take a nap. She became concerned after she heard his alarm going off without stopping one hour later.

Rotunda was then discovered in his bed and he was turning blue as he was not breathing. Offerman then called emergency services while her mother attempted CPR. Rotunda was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The wrestling world has mourned the loss of Bray Wyatt since Thursday, with WWE paying tribute to the former Universal Champion on Friday's episode of SmackDown. The Young Bucks have also dedicated AEW All In to Wyatt and Terry Funk, who also passed away last week.
