WWE is reportedly set to confirm the addition of Daniel Bryan to the Universal Championship match at WrestleMania 37 on tonight's Smackdown.

Bryan failed to capture the Title from champion Roman Reigns at Fastlane on Sunday, largely due to the actions of ringside enforcer Edge, who attacked both men with a chair after Bryan accidently struck the 2021 Royal Rumble winner with the weapon.

The major angle at the close of Fastlane indicated that WWE would make the Universal Championship match at WrestleMania 37 a triple-threat bout, and Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer says the promotion is expected to make that announcement on tonight's episode of Smackdown.

The decision to add Bryan to the main-event match was made by Vince McMahon himself, who wanted to shake up the WrestleMania 37 card. Other ideas had been pitched before WWE creative decided on Bryan's involvement, which came with the added caveat of turning Edge heel; the seeds of which were sown with his actions at Fastlane.

Meltzer also reports that the Universal Championship triple-threat match between Reigns, Brian and Edge will be the final contest on Night Two of WrestleMania 37, on Sunday 11 April at Raymond James Stadium.
