Last week's WWE Friday Night SmackDown saw the debuts of Tegan Nox and Shotzi Blackheart on the blue brand.

The NXT duo defeated WWE Women's Tag Team Champions Natalya and Tamina in a non-title match before their permanent switch to SmackDown was confirmed, while WWE also announced Toni Storm as debuting on the main roster soon as well.

With WWE set to conduct a draft in the coming weeks, many assumed the respective call-ups were a prelude to the coming shake-up of the WWE main roster, but Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter says that the decision to bring up the talent from the black-and-gold brand was 'obviously a last second' call.

Meltzer reasons that the decision was classic 'Vince McMahon m.o' in that, whenever business is down, the WWE Chairman seeks to bring up and push new, fresh talent on the main roster.

A source close to McMahon reportedly told Meltzer that the poor advance sales for WWE's return to live events played a role and, when McMahon saw the advances, he reasoned it as saying there was nobody new or exciting on the roster.

The WWE Chairman then went to NXT to pick out a couple of talent to immediately be called up and get pushed on Raw and SmackDown.
