News of yet another backstage fight in AEW has rocked the wrestling world this week, after it emerged that Andrade El Idolo and Sammy Guevara were involved in a minor fracas ahead of AEW Dynamite on October 5.
Andrade was suspended for his part in the fight - with many reports stating him to be the aggressor - and a new report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter suggests that key AEW talent are unhappy with the former NXT Champion’s conduct and timing.
With the recent backstage fights between Eddie Kingston and Guevara, and more notably the post-All Out brawl between CM Punk, Ace Steel, and The Elite, the focus is very much on AEW right now, with this latest incident furthering AEW’s unwanted reputation as a place of backstage chaos.
Meltzer’s report states that all of the above means several key talent are more upset with Andrade than they would be if this occurred at any other time, due to Andrade allegedly being aware of what this would mean for the company, and the public perception of AEW in the aftermath.
The prevailing belief is that Andrade was trying to get fired so he could return to WWE, with Meltzer seeing Khan’s directive of not releasing or firing talents so they can go back to WWE as opening a can of worms, believing talent will try to concoct plans and go out of their way to get fired, inviting an unwanted air of unprofessionalism into the company.
