AEW broadcaster Excalibur will return to commentary on the August 26 edition of Dynamite, according to a report from Dave Meltzer.

Initial reports claimed that Excalibur was due back on the August 12 broadcast, but either plans changed, or the plan all along was for him to come back on the 26th.

Excalibur was absent from the July 29 and August 5 episodes of Dynamite without public explanation from either himself, or from AEW as a company. He was present at both tapings, but was not used in an on-air capacity. Taz replaced Excalibur on both Dynamite broadcasts.

His absences are believed to stem from a storyline involving himself, Kevin Steen (Owens), Human Tornado, and others in Pro Wrestling Guerilla 17 years ago that involved the use of racial slurs. All of those involved in the angle regretted their involvement, and subsequently apologized. Footage of the angle resurfaced in recent weeks through dissemination on social media. Tornado recently expressed support publicly for both Excalibur and Owens.

Reports indicate, though unconfirmed, that Excalibur himself asked off of the recent AEW broadcasts, not wanting to be a distraction in light of the footage resurfacing. On the WWE side, the company opted not to discipline Owens, as while they were aware of his involvement, the situation had already been resolved to their satisfaction.
