Report: Details On Interaction Between CM Punk & Triple H At WWE Raw
CM Punk and Triple H chatted backstage at WWE Raw
Apr 25, 2023
In an unexpected turn of events, CM Punk was backstage at the April 24 edition of Monday Night Raw. The AEW star briefly met with Paul "Triple H" Levesque and several wrestlers backstage, including The Miz. Punk was eventually told to leave in what was said to be a Vince McMahon decision, at which point the two-time AEW World Champion said his goodbyes and left without incident.
Fightful Select have since revealed further details about the interaction between Triple H and CM Punk, revealing that Punk was looking to have a short chat with the WWE Chief Content Officer. Triple H was surprised that Punk was at the Allstate Arena and they briefly spoke after shaking hands. Punk asked if he was able to hang around backstage but Triple H said he would have to ask if that would be permitted first. Permission was ultimately not granted and Punk was asked to leave by WWE's Head of Security Jim Kelly at the request of Vince McMahon.
Monday was believed to be the first time CM Punk and Triple H have seen each other in person since Punk walked out of WWE on the Raw after the 2014 Royal Rumble, during which he insulted Triple H over their planned WrestleMania 30 match. The two men have spoken since then, however, and Triple H revealed in 2021 that he had been in touch with Punk sometime in 2019 or 2020. Punk was a host on WWE Backstage on FOX at the time.
Prior to Punk's debut in All Elite Wrestling, WWE did reach out to the 44-year-old about a return but it is unknown if Triple H was the individual who contacted Punk.
The Second City Saviour is currently signed to All Elite Wrestling and he is reportedly set to return to the promotion on the debut episode of AEW Collision on June 17.
