Report: Creative Pitches In WWE For Cody Rhodes To "Finish The Story" At SummerSlam
Cody Rhodes could "finish the story" at SummerSlam
Feb 4, 2024
Unless WWE changes their already changed plans, Cody Rhodes will not be “finishing the story” at WrestleMania 40 this year, with The Rock stepping into the main event spot against Roman Reigns, likely for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.
When it comes to “finishing the story”, WWE are still reportedly intending for Rhodes to win the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, much like he stated during his promo on SmackDown. According to PWInsider, it is reported that some within the company are pitching the idea of Cody Rhodes winning the belt at SummerSlam instead of WrestleMania 40.
This idea would see Cody Rhodes dethrone Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania before going on to defeat the winner of The Rock vs. Roman Reigns to unify the two belts. This would of course mean unifying two world championships twice in two years. Perhaps after SummerSlam we will see the Undisputed Unified WWE Universal World Heavyweight Championship.
There have been negative reactions to WWE running with The Rock instead of Cody Rhodes according to Fightful Select, though it does seem as though Rhodes is still intended to dethrone Reigns down the line.
