After weeks of reports, with initial rumours indicating Cody Rhodes was definitely returning to WWE before it emerged talks had "hit a snag" and then seemingly been resolved, with a match against Seth Rollins believed to be on for WrestleMania 38, the saga of Cody Rhodes' return to WWE appears to have come to an end.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider reported that multiple WWE sources confirmed The American Nightmare has signed with Vince McMahon's company. Rhodes signed his contract between 10 and 14 days ago.

The current plan for Rhodes' re-debut is for him to appear during WrestleMania 38 weekend and he will be a member of the Raw brand going forward.

Rhodes is still scheduled to be in action at The Show Of Shows against Seth Rollins, with references made to Cody on Monday's episode of Raw following Rollins' loss to Kevin Owens.

Fightful Select noted that travel for Rhodes is currently set for WrestleMania Sunday, but this is something that could change at any time. People within All Elite Wrestling also speculated Rhodes won't be on WWE TV until WrestleMania.

Cody's return to WWE comes after he and wife Brandi Rhodes departed All Elite Wrestling in mid-February. They had been free agents since the end of 2021 and were unable to come to terms on new deals with the promotion they founded with Tony Khan, The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega.

Rhodes performed for WWE for 10 years from 2006 until 2016, when he was granted his release after growing frustrated with his lack of direction, WWE creative, and his Stardust character.

Cody captured gold during his first run with the company, leaving in 2016 as a two-time Intercontinental Champion and six-time tag team champion.
