Report: Backstage News On Widely-Praised Closing Segment Of AEW Dynamite
More on the main event segment from this week's AEW Dynamite
Jun 16, 2023
The June 14 edition of AEW Dynamite ended in chaos earlier this week.
The main event of the show saw Hangman Page and The Young Bucks take on Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, and Wheeler Yuta and the two trios continued brawling after the match was finished. Just as Blackpool Combat Club were about to stand tall, Eddie Kingston made his return to AEW and charged at Claudio Castagnoli, taking out the ROH World Champion with a Spinning Back Fist. Kingston and Jon Moxley then teased a confrontation before Kingston was taken out by an attack from Konosuke Takeshita from behind.
The frantic pace then only continued as Kenny Omega made his way to the ring and exacted a measure of retribution on Takeshita, levelling him with a V-Trigger, before Omega was then suddenly decked from behind by a Superkick from Will Ospreay. The Commonwealth Kingpin ended Dynamite standing tall following two Hidden Blades and a Stormbreaker.
The segment has been hailed as some of the best TV AEW has put together in 2023. Any praise should be sent to Christopher Daniels as the Manager of Talent Relations produced the main event segment, according to Fightful Select. Daniels has been a key figure in All Elite Wrestling since the promotion was founded in 2019.
The Elite vs. Blackpool Combat Club feud looks set to continue throughout the summer. Eddie Kingston, however, is unlikely to be on AEW TV for long as he will head to Japan for an NJPW STRONG Openweight Title match with KENTA on July 4 before Kingston competes in the G1 Climax from July 15 until August 13.
