Report: Backstage News On Logan Paul & Ricochet's Botched Spanish Fly Spot At WWE Money In The Bank
A major moment didn't quite happen as planned at WWE Money in the Bank between Logan Paul and Ricochet
Jul 4, 2023
Logan Paul vs. Ricochet is reportedly the direction for SummerSlam on August 5 and the two men are set to come face-to-face on next week's edition of Monday Night Raw to continue the build to their encounter at the August pay-per-view.
The face-to-face comes after Paul and Ricochet were involved in a major moment in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match that ended up being botched. The original idea was for Ricochet, while falling off a ladder, to hit a Springboard Spanish Fly on Logan Paul through two tables at ringside. Both men ended up getting stuck on the ropes and Ricochet managed to save the move and just about put Paul through the tables after some reshuffling.
Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio the original plan was to build the SummerSlam match from the Spanish Fly spot with the idea that it would go viral. Instead, WWE filmed Ricochet and Logan Paul brawling backstage at Money in the Bank after the match and the face-to-face will help continue the build next week.
"Ricochet is wrestling Logan Paul at SummerSlam. If you watch the TV, you kind of know that. The idea was that spot that we talked about was supposed to be like this viral thing and it would like go crazy and that was gonna lead to the match. I mean, you know, people did see it, but it wasn't as smooth to lead to the match, so they did that angle over instead over there. That's, they're, they're gonna shoot the angle next Monday on Raw to lead to the match. So instead of doing a marquee match for Logan Paul, I think they want to get him to do an incredible athletic match and, you know, Ricochet is your guy if you wanna do that one," Meltzer said.
Logan Paul has been an active in-ring talent since April 2022's WrestleMania 38 and he has so far impressed inside the squared circle in matches against The Miz, Seth Rollins, and Roman Reigns.
