In recent months, WWE’s world championship situation has seen a fair few changes. Following the 2023 draft, the company introduced the World Heavyweight Championship for the Raw brand, which was won by Seth Rollins, offering a new world title given that Roman Reigns had previously won both the WWE and Universal Titles, keeping them over on SmackDown.

The Raw and SmackDown Women’s Champions were both also drafted to the opposite brands, but instead of going down the same route as they’ve done in the past with a title exchange, it looks as though both champions will be receiving newly designed and named titles. However, following the reveal of Asuka’s new ‘WWE Women’s Championship’ design, there has been some reported backstage confusion and frustration, per Fightful Select.

“One point of frustration we heard from WWE sources was a simple misuse of the term ‘undisputed’ in two cases. Roman Reigns’ title is being referred to as an undisputed title despite Seth Rollins being a world champion. Asuka’s new championship has ‘undisputed’ on the front of it, despite Rhea Ripley also being a women’s champion. One higher up in WWE said ‘that’s admittedly confusing. I don’t know why there is an insistence on doing that, and a lot of people have brought that up and it’s been dismissed.’”

There is a chance that the term ‘undisputed’ being on Asuka’s belt is a complete oversight given that it is an exact copy of Reigns, as WWE haven’t referred to Asuka as an ‘undisputed’ champion as of yet.
