Forbidden Door looks to have cemented itself as part of All Elite Wrestling and New Japan Pro-Wrestling's annual schedule. While unlikely to shock anyone, Fightful Select has reported that NJPW sources expect Forbidden Door to "continue as a tradition" going forward.

The first Forbidden Door show took place on June 26, 2022 at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. Due to multiple injuries, including to then-AEW World Champion CM Punk, the build to Forbidden Door was considered lacklustre but the show was widely regarded as the best of the year, with the card filled with excellent matches. Standout clashes included Orange Cassidy vs. Will Ospreay, the Four-Way for the AEW All-Atlantic Championship, Jon Moxley vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi, and Claudio Castagnoli vs. Zack Sabre Jr.

The second edition of Forbidden Door was held on June 25, 2023 at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. The show has already been tipped as one of the best of the year, with particular praise being dished out for the second high-profile match between Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay, CM Punk vs. Satoshi Kojima, and the dream match between Bryan Danielson and CM Punk.

AEW and NJPW's plans for next year's Forbidden Door are unclear as of the time of writing.
