Report: AEW & Others Inquired About Shane "Swerve" Strickland Following His WWE Release
Swerve to AEW?
Feb 9, 2022
Shane "Swerve" Strickland is seemingly a hot commodity in professional wrestling.
Not only has the former NXT North American Champion been booked by several independent wrestling promotions, including PROGRESS and Wrestling Revolver, but several companies have also inquired about Swerve's status since his WWE release in November of 2021.
Fightful Select reported All Elite Wrestling asked about Swerve's status "extremely early" into his free agency and New Japan Pro-Wrestling have also expressed their interest for the promotion's United States shows. MLW are also expected to approach Strickland if they haven't done so already.
Furthermore, management in multiple promotions have asked about using Strickland and plans are already in place for Swerve to work with a major company in some form. There is no word on what those plans are, though.
Strickland had spent the last few years performing in WWE but he was released by the company in November of 2021 along with his Hit Row faction-mates Top Dolla and Ashante 'Thee' Adonis. Their stablemate B-FAB had already been let go only a few weeks earlier.
