WWE fans attended a main roster show for the first time in over a year at WrestleMania 37 and the company claimed both nights of The Showcase Of The Immortals sold out, drawing a combined 51,350 fans. Night one was said to have an attendance of 25,675 and night two drew the same number of fans.

The actual attendance was much lower, though. Wrestlenomics' Brandon Thurston obtained documents from the Tampa Sports Authority, the organisation which manages Raymond James Stadium, and their records show 18,328 people attended night one while 18,924 were in the stadium for night two. Across the two days, over 37,000 fans attended WrestleMania but this figure is still 27 percent lower than the attendance touted by WWE.

The company actually sold a combined 40,806 tickets for The Show Of Shows, bringing in $6.2 million in revenue, but over 3,000 tickets went unused. Why this was the case is unknown, but Thurston speculated it could be because of an "overeager secondary ticket market."

The higher attendance announced by WWE won't come as a surprise to many fans, particularly as wrestling companies have been touting inflated attendance figures for years.
