Following WWE’s merger with UFC and the official establishment of TKO, there were mass lay-offs on the WWE end, with those both in-ring performers and those behind the scenes being the victim of releases and firings.

One of the names included on the talent side of releases was NXT’s Yulisa Leon, though she did note that her release was one that was requested by herself personally, as opposed to many of those who didn’t have a choice. She returned to the ring for the first time since her last NXT match in August over this weekend, and is already seeing the benefits of going out on her own.

Under her new ring name of Julissa, she appeared at The Crash Lucha Libre in Mexico, and outlasted Trish Adora, Zamaya, Keyra, and Dulce Tormenta to be crowned the brand new Crash Women’s Champion - making an immediate statement in her post-WWE run.

During her time in WWE, she was mostly confined to the NXT women’s tag team division, teaming up with Valentina Feroz.
