Back on April 15, WWE released longtime referee Mike Chioda along with numerous Superstars and backstage producers. Chioda had been with the company for 31 years and had refereed a number of historic matches like The Rock vs. Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania 18 and Shawn Michaels vs. "Stone Cold" Steve Austin at WrestleMania 14.

The legendary referee has seemingly found a new home as he was revealed as the official for Cody vs. Scorpio Sky on last night's episode of Dynamite.

This wasn't Chioda's only match on the show as Chris Jericho later found him backstage and told the referee to call his bout with Orange Cassidy "down the middle" when he gave him the signal.

This ultimately played into the main event as Le Champion ordered Chioda to turn his back after he retrieved Floyd the baseball bat. The new AEW official refused, however, and tore the bat out of Jericho's hands before he could use it, causing The Painmaker to lambast him for his insolence.

Having prevented Jericho from cheating his way to victory, Chioda officiated a largely fair match and Orange Cassidy picked up the biggest win of his career with the Mouse Trap Pin.
