WWE have clearly had high hopes for Austin Theory since day one, and his recent strong push on WWE TV will come as little surprise to many.

However, the possible reason behind his recent push could come down to those all important ‘audience demographics, with The Wrestling Observer Newsletter’s Dave Meltzer suggesting that Theory’s recent WWE Title match with Big E did well with younger audiences:

“The idea here is that Theory’s match did well, particularly with teenagers, at holding the audience and he is young, so give him the rub sitting next to Vince.”

Theory was signed by WWE in 2019, and was initially called up to main in 2020 after only a handful of appearances in NXT. On his first run on main Theory teamed with Angel Garza to challenge for the RAW Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania 36, and was later added to Seth Rollins’ entourage before quietly going back to NXT and joining The Way.

Since being called up in October, Theory has tangled with the likes of Jeff Hardy, wrestled at Survivor Series, and had extended segments with Vince McMahon on recent episodes of RAW.
