Randy Orton, in competing at WWE SummerSlam 2021, has equalled a legendary record once held exclusively by The Undertaker.

Orton's win in the opening match of the show on Saturday - teaming with Riddle to claim the Raw Tag Team Titles from AJ Styles & Omos - means The Viper has tied The Phenom's record of competing at 16 different SummerSlam events.

Orton first competed at SummerSlam in 2003, entering the Elimination Chamber in a World Heavyweight Championship bout. The Legend Killer claimed his first World Title at the event a year later and has also faced the likes of Hulk Hogan, John Cena and Brock Lesnar at the annual show.

Undertaker's 16-match run at SummerSlam saw the Dead Man face the likes of Edge, Mankind, Steve Austin, and even a fake version of himself. His final outing at the Summer pay-per-view was in 2015, defeating Brock Lesnar in the main event of the card.

Orton and Undertaker even went up against each other at the 2005 SummerSlam in a rematch of their WrestleMania 21 bout, which was won by Orton.

Orton now has the chance to outright beat Undertaker's record if he competes at another SummerSlam in the future. John Cena sits in third, with 15 SummerSlam outings.
