Randy Orton could be out of action for a number of months according to a report by

Orton reportedly underwent minor knee surgery on Tuesday this week, although the amount of time he'll miss while recovering is unclear. General consensus seems to have the Viper on the shelf for a couple of months, but he is thought to be unlikely to miss SummerSlam. Orton headlined the pay per view in 2016, losing to Brock Lesnar via technical knock out.

He was last seen at Backlash, where he lost a United States Championship match to Jeff Hardy. He has not flown out with the company for the ongoing tour of Europe, and is thought to be working a lighter schedule these days regardless of injury status. WrestlingNews' report states:

'Orton is already on a limited live event schedule because he wants to give his body more time to heal up in between tours and because he wants to spend more time with his family so he would have likely been off the current European tour regardless of injury status.'

The former US Champion won the title for the first time at Fastlane this year, completing a grand slam of championship victories. He first held the Intercontinental Championship in late 2003, and the WWE Championship in October 2007. December 2016 saw Orton won the SmackDown Tag Team Championship as a member of the Wyatt Family, leaving him with just the United States Championship to complete the set. His victory at Fastlane achieved just that, as the Viper beat Bobby Roode to win the title.
