WWE WrestleMania 4 was held at Boardwalk Hall (advertised as Trump Plaza) in Atlantic City, New Jersey on March 27, 1988 with the show having over 19,000 fans in attendance.

Hulk Hogan's multi-year reign as WWE Champion came to an end ahead of WrestleMania IV in a controversial loss to Andre the Giant. Andre then immediately sold the belt to Ted DiBiase which resulted in the WWE Title being vacated and put up for grabs in a 14-man single-elimination tournament at WrestleMania IV.

The nature of the tournament led to WrestleMania IV receiving mixed reviews but the night was historic nonetheless, crowning a certain someone as the WWE Champion.
