Following a 12-year run primarily wrestling for his father's International Championship Wrestling, Randy Savage signed with Vince McMahon's WWE in 1985 and would establish himself as one of the top stars in the industry, holding the Intercontinental Championship and WWE Championship during the company's boom 'Rock & Wrestling' era. The 'Macho Man's time in the company would see him involved in a number of pay-per-views, including the main events of WrestleMania IV and V.

After WWE decided to primarily book him as a colour commentator, Savage headed to World Championship Wrestling when his WWE contract expired in 1994 and Savage would be featured as a top star once again, headlining multiple pay-per-view events and having several championship runs.

After WCW was purchased by WWE, Savage would have one more pay-per-view match in TNA at Turning Point 2004.
