Paul Wight has credited Brock Lesnar for helping to turn his WWE career around in 2002 and 2003.

Wight, then working as 'The Big Show', was still relatively new to WWE when he worked with Lesnar during 'The Next Big Thing's' first run with the WWE Championship in 2002, and was the first person to defeat Lesnar by pin on television when he won the title from him at Survivor Series that year.

The two would also meet at Royal Rumble 2003 and feud over the WWE Title a little later in the year, with Lesnar beating Big Show in a Stretcher Match for the Championship at Judgement Day 2003 before meeting again in a Triple Threat Match, that also included Kurt Angle, at Vengeance 2003.

Now with All Elite Wrestling, Wight said he had heat in WWE around that time but Lesnar's desire to work with him helped to get his own career back on track.

Speaking on Renee Paquette's Oral Sessions, Wight said: "For a long time I had a lot of heat up there (in WWE). Brock knew me. And they asked Brock and he said ‘I want to work with the Giant. You guys don’t know how good he is.’

"And then we had that stretcher match. After that it was off and running."
