Paige was scheduled to be featured in a special meet-and-greet as part of SummerSlam weekend on Saturday, but was forced to pull out at the last minute. A fan tweeted about the cancellation, and

Paige responded

to him by revealing that she had to see her doctor, due to ongoing issues concerning her neck.

Paige further clarified her situation in

an Instagram post

, writing, "Unfortunately I have the neck of a 60 year old. The first fusion healed perfectly. But I developed another hernia above it after my match in Uniondale. It didn’t get better over time. One more surgery."

Paige last wrestled in December 2017, when she sustained a neck injury during a six-woman tag at a WWE live event at Uniondale's Nassau Coliseum, which led to the end of her in-ring career. She subsequently announced her retirement on the post-WrestleMania edition of Monday Night Raw in 2018.

Previously, she was sidelined from June 2016 up until receiving medical clearance in the fall of 2017, during which time she had undergone neck surgery.
