PAC

PAC - known by many as former WWE Superstar Neville - has won his first major championship since returning to wrestling.

Earlier today, the Newcastle-born high-flyer won the Open the Dream Gate Championship, the main title of Dragon Gate.

The belt his been previously held by names such as Ricochet and Jushin Thunder Liger, as well as company veterans CIMA and Masaaki Mochizuki. Before today's event - Fantastic Gate 2018 - PAC had never held the championship, but achieved the accolade by defeating babyface Masato Yoshino.

Having jumped the defending champion during the Japanese national anthem, PAC won with the Black Arrow (a renamed version of his WWE finisher, the Red Arrow). He remains undefeated since returning to Dragon Gate.

PAC did wrestle extensively for the promotion prior to his WWE run, appearing for the Japanese promotion between 2007 and 2012. Capturing the Open the Dream Gate Championship makes him a grand slam champion in Dragon Gate, having previously held the tag title, trios title, and juniors title over the years.

This is certainly PAC's highest-profile achievement since returning to wrestling, having left WWE in August. A fallout between PAC and WWE became apparent in late 2017, with Fightful.com reporting in January 2018 that WWE had frozen his contract, preventing him from leaving to wrestle elsewhere.

Having waited out his contract, PAC returned to wrestling recently, and has since made several appearances both in Japan and the UK. He is scheduled to face Will Ospreay in something of an indy dream match in February 2019, at RevPro's High Stakes event. That's scheduled to take place at York Hall in London.
