NJPW's Hiromu Takahashi May Never Wrestle Again According To Report

In a rather upsetting report, Dave Meltzer of the

has revealed there's a chance former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion Hiromu Takahashi may never wrestle again.

Here's the full quote from Meltzer, taken from this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter:

"The updated word is that it is not certain when or if Hiromu Takahashi will be able to return to the ring. This would really be a sad ending to a career of someone who was an amazing worker with incredible charisma that was already at the top of the world level as a complete performer and was only going to become more of a star in time."

It was recently reported by various sources online that Takahashi was almost ready to make a return to the ring with his weight up to 207lbs. However, for Meltzer to write "it is not certain when

or if

Hiromu Takahashi will be able to return to the ring," it appears those reports may have been a little wide of the mark. Only time will tell on this one.

Takahashi was injured at the G1 Special in San Francisco when a Phoenix-Plex resulted in the Ticking Timebomb landing on the top of his head. While Hiromu was able to complete it match, it was clear that he was in some distress and reportedly collapsed upon arriving backstage.

Initial reports suggest that he would be out of action for the better part of a year with his title (currently held by Kushida) being declared vacant in August.
