"The big question internally was how much can you invest and keep pace with the technology?"

Nick Khan says the access to NBCUniversal's technical support and the chance to lower the price for fans made the decision to migrate the WWE Network over to Peacock a 'no brainer'.

WWE and NBCU confirmed earlier this year that Peacock would become the exclusive home for WWE Network content in the United States. From March 18, 2021, WWE fans can begin to utilise Peacock to watch the WWE Network, while the Network app will shut down in the USA on Sunday 4 April, 2021 - one week before WrestleMania 37.

It has been reported that WWE and NBU have agreed a five-year deal worth $1 billion, and WWE President & Chief Revenue Officer Khan has spoken about why the deal also makes sense for WWE supporters.

The WWE Network is currently $9.99 a month in the United States, and Khan said the opportunity to reduce that price to $4.99 a month on Peacock made financial sense for their audience.

Talking to AP, he said: "The big question internally was how much can you invest and keep pace with the technology? It would be a massive investment. We can drop the price in half and add their technical support. Ultimately it became a no brainer, especially with their reach."

Peacock is currently offering a discounted introductory deal to WWE fans, at $9.99 for the first four months, equating to just shy of $2.50 a month.

However, there is still some concern as to how fans will access the WWE product through Peacock once it becomes the sole provider in the United States in April. As previously reported, WWE's extensive content backlog will not all be immediately available, with NBCUniversal hoping to have the entire library uploaded in time for SummerSlam 2021.
