WWE's move to the Peacock streaming service has led to big increases in viewership for the wrestling company's pay-per-views, Nick Khan has revealed.

WWE and NBCUniversal came to a $1 billion deal earlier this year which resulted in Peacock becoming the exclusive home for WWE Network content in the United States from March 18, 2021. The WWE Network in the United States then shuttered in April.

With Peacock having recently passed 54 million subscribers, WWE content is available to a lot more people in the US and this has led to big increases in pay-per-view viewership.

"Four months into the Peacock partnership, we are seeing the benefits of a streaming partnership with a platform that had broad distribution and continues to grow. Since moving to Peacock, viewership of our pay-per-view events have increased with Backlash up 26%, Hell in a Cell up 25%, and Money in the Bank up 46% from their prior-year performance on what was the standalone WWE Network," Nick Khan said on the WWE Q2 2021 investors call.

"These viewership numbers are also up considerably from our pre-pandemic WWE Network numbers. When we announced the Peacock deal, we said one of the key reasons for the partnership was to bring the WWE product to a wider audience to those subscribed to WWE Network. We expect viewership of WWE to continue to increase, particularly as Peacock grows its base of users."
