AEW more often than not likes to announce all of their match cards ahead of time, with it being rare that a match is made off the cuff and impromptu. On last night’s AEW Collision though, fans were treated to an unannounced encounter.

Darby Allin came out for a match, previously stating in a promo that he’d fight anyone, and often when the graphic reads that a big wrestler will be “in action”, it often ends up being a glorified squash match against a local competitor or someone lower down the card. That wasn’t the case last night as none other than Japanese legend Minoru Suzuki came out to be Allin’s opponent, much to his and the fans’ shock.

Allin and Suzuki met earlier this year at the Forbidden Door PPV on opposite sides of a trios match, in which Allin, Sting, and Tetsuya Naito emerged victorious against Suzuki, Chris Jericho, and Sammy Guevara. The result was the same this time around, as Allin managed to eke out a victory by reversing Suzuki’s rear naked choke into a pinfall.
