Matt Hardy Thinks He Would Have Been Able To Do More Creatively In WWE If Triple H Was "Solely In Power"
If only a certain someone didn't run the company...

On March 1, Matt Hardy's WWE contract expired and he officially became a free agent. Hardy has since revived his Broken character and made his debut in AEW on last week's episode of Dynamite.
Since leaving WWE, Matt has discussed his creative difficulties with the company and, in particular, Vince McMahon. He explained that he doesn't think Vince really understood Broken Matt Hardy, which is why his Woken gimmick devolved into him laughing like a maniac for six months without any character development. He also explained that while he was off TV many of his ideas were rejected, which led to him spending much of his last WWE run on the sidelines.
During a recent episode of Talk Is Jericho, Hardy said Triple H was a lot more receptive to using him on TV. When he returned to the company in 2017, Matt said he discussed his run The Game, in which he and Jeff would return as The Hardy Boyz, and then transition into a full version of The Broken Universe. Ultimately, this isn't what happened and Hardy believes if Triple H was "solely in power" of WWE, he would have had more of an opportunity to do what he wanted to creatively.
The new AEW signing said: "Even days after I left I talked to Triple H and he was trying to give me some good offers after my contract was up, and he was cool. And I feel like if Triple H would have been the guy that was solely in power, I would have probably had a much better opportunity getting to do what I wanted creatively."
