Matt Hardy’s All Elite Wrestling future is under doubt, with it recently revealed that the veteran’s contract is soon set to expire.

Despite Hardy’s deal coming to an end in March with no reports suggesting a new deal has been agreed upon, the multi-time tag team champion is not contemplating retirement, with Hardy stating that he is ‘not retiring from active wrestling any time soon’ in response to a fan on X/Twitter.

The 49-year-old former TNA World Champion has not wrestled since the January 3, 2024 AEW Rampage tapings, where Matt, brother Jeff, and Mark Briscoe defeated Kip Sabian, The Butcher, and The Blade. Some fans have noticed that Hardy is starting to show the signs of a lifetime in the ring, with Hardy having taken many ridiculous bumps over the years, especially during the vaunted TLC series with Edge & Christian and The Dudley Boyz during WWE’s Attitude Era.

Hardy joined AEW in March 2020, where he has again taken many notable and hellacious bumps, including a nasty spill from a cherry picker with Sammy Guevara at All Out 2020 which saw Hardy hit concrete and be legitimately knocked out. The match continued despite the injury, a decision which was met with widespread derision from fans and industry professionals alike.
