23 year old NXT Superstar Lio Rush has removed mention of WWE and NXT from his Twitter bio section, sparking rumours that he has been released from his contract less than two months after his first onscreen appearance.

The former Ring of Honor star and 2016 Top Prospect Tournament winner become embroiled in controversy last month, after a posting a tweet seemingly making fun of former Raw Superstar Emma for being released.

Rush joked that Emma's release was the result of a loss to Asuka, and was immediately met with backlash by various members of the locker room. Bray Wyatt, Peyton Royce, Buddy Murphy, and Sin Cara all voiced their criticism of Rush's words online, and he hastily posted an apology.

This apology tweet was taken as disingenuous by many fans and some wrestlers; Jack Gallagher posted a particularly scathing response, stating 'Apologising because people didn't like your joke, not for joking about someone losing their job. Also, try the English classes at the PC.'

Rumours of attitude problems shortly followed, with many online believing that this sort of behaviour is simply par for the course when it comes to Rush.

For what it's worth, senior figures such as Road Dogg, Scott Armstrong, and William Regal took a different angle, speaking out in support of Rush. Regal even urged constructive criticism and sensible advice to be given to Rush - rather than hounding someone for making a simple mistake.

The youngster has yet to find a regular place on NXT's Network show, but has wrestled at live events - although this schedule was disrupted somewhat by the controversy surrounding the Emma incident. His lone NXT TV match so far was a loss to The Velveteen Dream a straightforward two-minute loss chiefly meant to further Velveteen Dream's feud with Aleister Black.

Rush has three years of professional wrestling experience, and is a former CZW World Heavyweight Champion.
