Kenny Omega is moving ever closer towards a return to All Elite Wrestling, with the former AEW World Champion having been out of action since December 2023 due to a life threatening bout of diverticulitis.

Omega underwent surgery in May, with it revealed that surgeons removed 25cm of his colon. Omega is now in the midst of his recovery phase, with a report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter shedding a little more light on Omega’s current condition.

Meltzer notes that whilst Omega is ‘training with moderate intensity’, he still has weakness in the abdominal area and as yet cannot take any bumps. There is no estimate as to when Omega could return to in-ring competition, with Meltzer suggesting that Omega should not be expected back in a ring ‘any time soon’.

Omega’s last match came in early December 2023, with a victory over Ethan Page on an episode of AEW Collision. Omega did make a one night return to AEW in May 2024, with ‘The Cleaner’ ending up on the receiving end of a beatdown at the hands of his former running buddies The Elite.
