WWE NXT Cruiserweight Champion KUSHIDA has admitted to feeling 'stunned' when told he was not cleared to wrestle on this week's episode of the black-and-gold brand.
WWE had heavily advertised KUSHIDA defending his Cruiserweight Championship against The Diamond Mine's Roderick Strong on the August 17 episode of NXT but, in the hours before the show, NXT General Manager William Regal tweeted that KUSHIDA was not cleared to compete by the medical team.
The decision meant that KUSHIDA was no where to been seen on this week's show at the Capitol Wrestling Center, with Strong instead issuing an open challenge. He faced, and was beaten by, Ilja Dragunov.
The Cruiserweight Champion has taken to social media to comment on his inability to compete, saying sorry to fans who were looking forward to watching him in action, while also admitting to being 'stunned' by the diagnosis.
Writing on Twitter, KUSHIDA said; "I'm sorry for everyone who was looking forward to [Tuesday's} title match. Did not cleared the medical. I can't do anything and I'm just stunned...
"I promise to be back on TV soon. Thank you for your support."
