Kota Ibushi made a surprise return to DDT Pro Wrestling at the company's Peter Pan show in Sumo Hall yesterday.

Ibushi showed up during the Ironman Heavyweight Championship Weapons Rumble match between Danshoku Dino and the promotion's founder Sanshiro Takagi as one of Dino's 'weapons'. It was Ibushi's first appearance in DDT (the company where he initially made his reputation) for seven years.

Michael Nakazawa and Maki Itoh also acted as 'weapons' for Dino during the bout, with Ibushi helping the champion retain his title by giving Takagi a Kamigoye.

After the match, Takagi expressed a desire to have a singles match with The Golden Star, while Ibushi likewise expressed a desire to once again wrestle in a DDT ring.

During the post-show press conference, Takagi said he also wanted to bring Ibushi's Golden Lovers tag partner Kenny Omega back to DDT. Omega is currently recovering after undergoing surgery for diverticulitis.

Ibushi, meanwhile, last wrestled in a five-minute exhibition match for the GLEAT promotion on July 1. Prior to that, his last match was a loss to Naomichi Marafuji for Pro Wrestling NOAH on January 2.

The 42-year-old entered the match already injured and sustained further injuries during its 30-plus minute duration. He subsequently apologised for his performance.
