Kofi Kingston Sidelined For Six Weeks

Xavier Woods has been out of action for quite a long time, and now New Day partner Kofi Kingston joins him on the shelf.

Kingston revealed during Friday night's episode of SmackDown that he's out for six weeks, due to injuries sustained in the SmackDown Team Team title tables match with Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura at Sunday's Extreme Rules pay-per-view. Kingston took a powerbomb through two tables to end the match.

This means that, for the time being, Big E is functionally working singles, where he has had success before. Though best known for the plethora of Tag Team gold he's held as part of The New Day, Big E did reign as Intercontinental champion from November 2013 to May 2014, the reign ending shortly before he, Kingston, and Woods formed the group.

Big E was also the second NXT champion in the belt's history, holding the title for five months between December 2012 and May 2013.

Woods has been sidelined since last October, after rupturing his Achilles during a live event in Australia. Woods updated his situation on The Bump last month, saying that he's unsure when a return to the ring will take place, but noted that he's feeling well, and has regained some movement.
