Kevin Owens Pitched Sami Zayn Feud To WWE Last September

Kevin Owens has revealed he proposed a feud with Sami Zayn to Vince McMahon last September, with the company revisiting the idea for WrestleMania 37.
Owens and Zayn will meet on Night Two Of 'The Showcase Of The Immortals', with Logan Paul involved in some capacity, but KO has indicated he had the idea for a rivalry between the two old friends six months ago.
Owens told TVA Sports: "In September, I proposed the idea to Vince McMahon, and then I didn’t hear about it again. It’s the WWE executives who have come back to us with this lately. It was inevitable and logical in the following. As our careers have developed, a one-on-one match at WrestleMania is like the crowning of our career.
"It hadn’t struck me yet before I saw the graphic that formalized our match. Having a one-on-one match at WrestleMania is more and more rare, more and more difficult. So for us it’s a special accomplishment. So doing it together means more to us. It’s a big opportunity, there is no doubt about it."
Zayn returned to Smackdown after a period of absence due to coronavirus at the end of August 2020, having been the Intercontinental champion at the time of his temporary departure.
It is therefore plausible that Owens' suggestion to a feud with Zayn would have incorporated the Intercontinental Title, which Zayn lost to Big E on Christmas Day.
