Karrion Kross has revealed that Finn Bálor reached out to him after he was forced to vacate his newly won WWE NXT Championship due to a separated shoulder.

Kross first won the Title from Keith Lee at NXT TakeOver XXX but suffered a separated shoulder during the match, meaning he had to give up the Championship on NXT just three nights later.

The 35-year-old has just begun his second reign with the Title, beating Bálor in a physical match at NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver, and has now opened up on how the man who carried the belt after he was forced to drop it actually reached out to him following his injury.

Bálor has been in a very similar situation, suffering a separated shoulder of his own at WWE SummerSlam 2016, where he defeated Seth Rollins to become the first Universal Champion. Bálor had to give up that title the very next night on Raw.

Speaking to Sports Illustrated, Kross said: "He addressed the conversation from a psychological point of view and addressed where I was mentally. He knew all about it. You go from the top of the mountain to fading away into oblivion.

"I really appreciated that he reached out to me. Before that, we were just acquaintances. This was beyond professional, and it made a big difference. Then, months later, we’re in the ring trying to kill each other. It’s funny how the universe works.

"I could not have asked for a better person to work with in that match. Finn is one of the best of all time to ever step in the ring."
