Former WWE NXT Women’s Champion Kairi Sane has seemingly teased an in-ring wrestling return after removing WWE links from her social media handles.

Although still going by @KairiSaneWWE on Twitter, Sane has updated her bio to read ‘Former #WWE Superstar and #WWENXT Women's champion’, whilst changing her Instagram username from ‘kairi_wwe’ to ‘official_kairi’, leading to a ton of speculation online.

Sane added fuel to the fire by Tweeting a wink emoji in response to a fan saying they wish they could see ‘The Pirate Princess’ in-ring again soon, and retweeting fan art that shows a caricature of Sane looking at an hourglass.

Sane last wrestled in 2020, defeating Bayley in singles action on WWE RAW on the July 20th edition, before being written off of TV the next week, with a video on WWE’s YouTube channel confirming that Sane was stepping away from the ring.

WWE later announced that Sane had returned to Japan and was still employed by WWE in an ambassadorial role, but with reports that WWE had dissolved it’s Japanese operations, as well as the recent news that Japanese broadcaster J-Sports will cease broadcasting WWE programming in January 2022, it may appear that Sane’s ambassadorial role is no longer needed.

There have been no reports as of yet if Sane will indeed return to in-ring competition, nor where she will wrestle if and when the time comes.
