Josh Alexander Hoping To Reach One Year As IMPACT World Champion
Josh Alexander wants a one-year IMPACT World Title reign
Jan 11, 2023
Only days after he became the longest-reigning IMPACT World Champion in the promotion's history, Josh Alexander has admitted he is aiming to reach at least one year as the company's top star.
The Walking Weapon told WrestleZone:
"My wrestling student actually messaged me today and he said, 'If you go to 305, you'll eclipse any champion ever in the history of NWA TNA or IMPACT.' Jeff Jarrett's reign is 305 days long as the NWA Heavyweight Champion, so I guess that's the next number to chase. For me, man, if I can get a year into this and have a year-long title reign in pro wrestling, which is so rare, that's something that's a goal to set. But all these things are kinda out of my hands."
Jeff Jarrett is currently the longest-reigning world champion in TNA/IMPACT history, having held the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Title for 305 days between June 2004 and April 2005. NWA's partnership with TNA ended in 2007 which prompted the creation of the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. The belt was later changed to the IMPACT World Title after the promotion repackaged as IMPACT Wrestling in 2018.
Josh Alexander will next defend the IMPACT World Title this Friday on January 13. He is scheduled to face Bully Ray in a Full Metal Mayhem Match at the Hard to Kill pay-per-view.
