Protests have erupted throughout the United States after George Floyd died in police custody on May 25. There have been protests in at least 140 cities and some of the demonstrations have turned violent, prompting the National Guard to be activated in 21 states.

President Trump has been widely criticised for his response to the demonstrations as he called protestors "terrorists" and said he would deploy the United States military if cities refused "to take the actions necessary to defend the life and property of their residents." Just after the WWE Hall Of Famer's press conference, police used tear gas and flash grenades against protestors so he could visit the nearby St. John's church.

The protests entered the professional wrestling world last night as SmackDown Superstar Jaxson Ryker tweeted: "Thankful for the ‪@POTUS we have! God bless America. Built of freedom. Forgotten No More."

Whether or not these are Ryker's genuine views is currently unknown, but the tweet was condemned by The Forgotten Sons member's fellow WWE Superstars Kevin Owens, Mustafa Ali, Ricochet, and many others.

Former Universal Champion Kevin Owens replied: "The freedom you speak of entitles you to speak your mind all you want. I'm not here to argue that. I just really need to tell you that I think you pushing your shitty wrestling catchphrase as all of this is happening is absolutely fucking pathetic. Good night."

"I'm thankful you posted this because I'm now aware of what you stand for. When black brothers and sisters are crying, you praise someone that refuses to acknowledge their hurt," Ali penned.

The One And Only later wrote: "I get you're a 'bad guy' on tv. And I'm HOPING that's all this is. Even then, that ain't it. But if this is actually your true thoughts - I'll be really sad, man."
