The name of Janel Grant has become very quickly widely known following a lawsuit filed against Vince McMahon in regards to alleged sexual assault and trafficking. There are many questions that have been asked following this news, and Grant’s lawyer Ann Callis has spoken up to answer some of them.

When appearing on Law&Crime with Angenette Levy, Callis responded to the question of why Grant continued her relations with Vince McMahon given what was alleged to have happened. Callis revealed that it was due to Grant feeling trapped.

“Well, there is a thing called trauma bonding that people that, people haven’t studied it, but she literally felt caged and imprisoned by Vince McMahon, and the degrading, the escalation of degrading things that happened to her, it’s important for it to come out. These are facts, and these are allegations that we hope.”

It was also explained that Grant wants her life back and ownership of her story, whilst also potentially helping other victims in a similar position by speaking out and coming forward. Callis went on to explain how it took Grant a lot of courage to file the lawsuit despite being in a very vulnerable position.

“What happened to her and what we allege left her physically and mentally absolutely destroyed. So she is trying to recover. She believes this is the first step. Filling this lawsuit took some tremendous courage from her. She was in an extremely vulnerable position when she first encountered Vince McMahon. Her parents had passed. She was the primary caregiver for her parents. So already, besides being in an inordinately uneven playing field between Vince McMahon and Janel, our client, she still tried to conduct herself, tried to be the best possible employee for the WWE that she could be, under the most devastating and sexually depraved circumstances.”

Among other notes from this interview, Callis stated that she believed it likely that there are more victims based on the pattern of manipulation she saw in this case.
