Jake Atlas has revealed that WWE paid for his therapy sessions for six month and believes, in doing so, the promotion saved his life.

It was reported on Thursday 2 September that WWE had sent a message to all talent on their respective rosters reminding them that mental health counselling and services were available to them, if they wanted to use them.

Atlas responded to one of these reports, revealing that he himself made use of the services that WWE make available to their superstars, and that the company paid for him to go through therapy for half-a-year.

In doing this, the former NXT star believes WWE literally saved his life.

Writing on Twitter, Atlas said: "I certainly don’t want to make this about me but this is important to speak up about. WWE paid for 6 months of my therapy & quite literally saved my life.

"Not everything is what it seems. People who are truly suffering from mental illness learn how to to hide it well. Reach out."

WWE's reminder of the counselling services available to talent was sent in the wake of the tragic passing of former WCW, TNA and ROH talent Daffney Unger earlier this week.
