After weeks of rumours, WWE and ESPN officially announced on Tuesday, September 26 that Jade Cargill had signed with WWE on a multi-year deal and she will start at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida immediately.

WWE Chief Content Officer Paul "Triple H" Levesque tweeted: "A dominant athlete who's here to change the game... Join me in welcoming the newest @WWE Superstar, @Jade_Cargill, to the @WWEUniverse."

According to Fightful Select, WWE had been interested in signing Cargill for some time and some within WWE had heard of interest back in July 2023. At the time, Cargill was on hiatus from AEW and she held talks over signing a new deal, but Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted both sides were apart on money. Her signing with WWE was reportedly not motivated by money, though.

There has been no official announcement about if Cargill will make her WWE TV debut on the main roster or NXT. Reports have indicated that WWE creative are putting together major main roster plans for the 31-year-old and her creative is said to be high priority. The expectation is this high priority will result in a push for Cargill whenever she does make her TV debut.

Cargill is the second major AEW talent to jump from Tony Khan's promotion to WWE, following Cody Rhodes in 2022. Cargill made her AEW debut back in November 2020, having her first match shortly after when she teamed with Shaquille O'Neal to defeat Cody Rhodes and Red Velvet. Cargill went on a 60-match winning streak, during which she won the TBS Championship and led her own faction in The Baddies, before a loss to Kris Statlander at Double or Nothing in May 2023. Cargill took time off following the pay-per-view before she resurfaced on the September 9 edition of AEW Collision. Cargill then had one final AEW match on the September 13 taping of Rampage where she put over Kris Statlander once again. By the time the match aired on September 15, it was known that Cargill was on her way out. Her contract expired that day.

Fightful Select has noted that Cargill was treated well by AEW upon leaving the promotion and there doesn't appear to be any ill will between the two sides. It was reportedly important to AEW that she received an appropriate sendoff.
