All Elite Wrestling's Double Or Nothing event is a contender for show of the year.

Before the main card kicked off a pre-show was held where Kip Sabian defeated Sammy Guevara, and a Casino Battle Royale took place.

Shock entrant Hangman Page - who was supposed to face PAC for the vacant AEW title before "creative differences" got in the way - would come out on top of the 21-man affair, but one of the current IMPACT Wrestling champions could have seen things turn out differently.

It was reported by several sources online that IMPACT World Champion Brian Cage was backstage at the event and ready to appear. Well, a report from

PWInsider

claims that IMPACT Wrestling themselves prevented Cage from appearing in the Battle Royale.

For the avoidance of any doubt, here's what

their

report said: “Cage was backstage at the PPV and prepared to compete in the match but when IMPACT Wrestling officials learned he was there, they contacted Cage and informed him he could not appear due to his IMPACT deal.”

At the time of writing, Cage hasn't commented on the matter.
